The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced the appointment of Miller Dantawaye as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) for Kogi State and Betty Otimenyin for Edo State.
This decision was communicated by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja.
The appointments come as the current Commissioners in both states are set to retire later this month. Chukwuka Onuoha, the CP for Kogi, is scheduled to retire on January 22, while Peter Umoru, the CP for Edo, will conclude his service on January 25.
Miller Dantawaye previously held the position of CP in charge of Information Technology (IT) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. His extensive experience includes serving as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) overseeing Operations within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Betty Otimenyin, the new CP for Edo, began her policing career in Bauchi State and has held various roles, including Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in several divisions across Plateau and Edo States.
Prior to her new appointment, she served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Administration in Zone 13 Dunokuofia, Anambra, and Zone 5, Edo. At the time of her appointment, Otimenyin was in charge of Administration at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja.
In his remarks, PSC Chairman Mr. Hashimu Argungu urged the newly appointed commissioners to demonstrate dedication and commitment to their roles.
He emphasized the importance of swiftly acclimating to their responsibilities and enhancing security within their respective states.
Argungu also assured that the commission would closely monitor their performance and provide support to ensure they excel in their duties to safeguard the communities they serve.
