Edo State Police Command Foils Kidnapping Attempt, Rescues Four Victims

A daring operation by the Edo State Police Command has resulted in the neutralization of a suspected kidnapper and the rescue of four abducted victims.
The successful mission was made possible by a tip-off from an escapee, who provided crucial information leading to the pursuit of the gunmen.

According to ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, Deputy Spokesperson for the Command, “Our personnel, in collaboration with vigilante groups and hunters, set up an ambush at Iyuku Forest, where the kidnappers were hiding. When one of the suspects emerged with a single-barrel gun, our team engaged him in a firefight, resulting in his neutralization.”
The police recovered a locally made single-barrel gun and four live cartridges at the scene. A thorough search of the surrounding area is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members.
In a separate incident, the Command rescued four kidnapped victims, including a five-year-old child, after receiving a tip-off about their abduction along the Benin-Akure Road. The victims, identified as Okolie Chukuka, Samson Ayodele, Ronke Makinde, and her daughter, were freed after a rigorous search operation.
The Edo State Police Command’s swift response and collaborative efforts with local groups have dealt a significant blow to kidnapping activities in the state, ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
