Obaseki condoles with PDP leader, Ikimi, over sister’s death

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has led other government officials to console a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tom Ikimi, over the demise of his sister, Theresa Namorie Ikimi.

The governor’s entourage included his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha and Special Adviser on Media Projects, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, among others.

Obaseki, while expressing sorrow over the loss, prayed for God to give the PDP leader and other members of the Ikimi family the courage to cope with the irreparable loss.

The governor said, “We’re here to convey our heartfelt condolences and that of the people and government of Edo State on the death of your late sister, Madam Theresa Namorie Ikimi.

“As a faithful catholic, we cannot challenge God Almighty. We know you’re older than her but God in his infinite wisdom decided to take her home before you.

“We know how hard and painful it is for you but we’re here to empathize with you and pray that God Almighty never gives you problems without the ability to handle them. Only He knows why he has done what he has done.”

He added, “We came here to console you and ask you to be brave. We want to let you know that we’re here in prayers with you through this very tough time. We pray to God Almighty that He will accept the soul of your younger sister, Mrs. Theresa Ikimi and all those that have also passed away in his embrace, Amen.”

In response, Chief Tom Ikimi appreciated the governor and his entourage for the visit, saying, “I feel fortified that I have the backing from the Governor and Deputy Governor of my state who have visited me at this time of my anguish. I feel very assured that I can deal with the situation that my family has found itself in.”
