Obaseki Calls for Collective Effort for Enhanced Security

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki reiterated the critical role of collective action in ensuring the safety of the state’s inhabitants. Governor Obaseki emphasized that security remains a top priority for his administration.

During a visit by the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Sapphire Shield Security and Safety Awareness Initiative, the Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Andrew Emwanta, commended the NGO for its proactive stance in partnering with the State Government to bolster security measures for the protection of lives and properties in Edo.

Governor Obaseki pledged the government’s unwavering support to the NGO and urged other similar organizations to collaborate with the government in elevating Edo to its full potential. He envisaged a future where Edo would stand out as a safe destination, attracting investors and tourists.

“It is the responsibility of the Government to ensure the safety of its citizens, and as a State, the Government will not give up on that,” the Governor declared.

Highlighting the crucial role of security in the state’s progress, Governor Obaseki noted that Edo was a trailblazer in establishing the State Property Protection Committee, whose mandate is to safeguard the lives and assets of the residents. This initiative showcases the state’s commitment to creating a secure and conducive environment for businesses and investments.

The State Coordinator of the NGO, Rev. Dr. Sheriff Azeke, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his hospitality and acknowledged the administration’s strides in combating insecurity in Edo. He also unveiled the NGO’s forthcoming security campaign slated for October 1, 2022, underscoring the organization’s focus on safeguarding the populace.

A highlight of the meeting was the recognition of Governor Obaseki with an Award of Excellence, alongside the designation as the Grand Patron of the NGO, symbolized by a badge and a sash.
