Edo Police Warns against use of Fireworks during the Christmas and New Year season

The Edo State Police Command has promised to provide sufficient security and has advised the state’s residents to refrain from using fireworks during the Christmas and New Year’s season.

Chidi Nwabuzo, the command’s spokesperson, stated in a press release on Thursday that its agents have been instructed to take strict measures against fireworks dealers and those who do business with them.

He further guaranteed that sufficient security would be provided by the police and other law enforcement organizations throughout the holiday season.

“Citizens and residents of the state have been assured by the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, CP Muhammad Dankwara, that the Police and other law enforcement agencies in the state will ensure adequate security before, during, and after the Yuletide seasons,” the statement said.

“The CP forbids citizens from participating in any illegal activity, especially the launching or shooting of fireworks, under the guise of celebrating the holiday.

“The CP warned that anyone caught breaking the law would be brought to book, adding that Police operatives of the command have been given specific instructions to clamp down on dealers of fireworks, those who patronized them, and the users.”
