Edo Police Arrest 5 kidnappers

At Ogoja Camp, also known as Ford Oga Camp in Ekiadolor, Benin City, the Edo State Police Command announced on Saturday that it had apprehended five suspected kidnappers.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the state command, thanked the public for reporting the suspects to the police, which resulted in their arrest, and stated in a statement that various types of arms were recovered from the suspects.

“Edo State Police Command hereby wishes to inform the general public of the arrest of five male suspects who are suspected of kidnapping,” the statement said. They are Christopher Aiyegbeni (29 years), Matthew Osayande (32 years), Uyi Destiny (27 years), Bankole Faz (35 years), and Ayemen Okojie (32 years).

“On Friday, December 16, 2022, the agents of the Ekiadolor Divisional Police Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, retrieved from them one double-barrelled gun, one single-barrelled gun, and two pump-action guns with cartridges.”

“The suspects’ arrest was made possible by a complaint filed by a state citizen who was patriotic. The complaint stated that at approximately 6:00 a.m. on the specified date, five men who appeared to be kidnappers broke into Ogoja Camp, also known as Ford Oga Camp, and took heavy weapons with them with the intent of kidnapping one of the camp leaders.”
