Akoko-Edo Local Government Leads in the Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic in Edo State

Akoko-Edo Local Government has emerged the overall best performing local Government Council in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in Edo State.

This feat that has won the Local Government both the Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Development Agency prize, and the Honourable Commissioner for Health award for Covid-19 2.0. was disclosed to journalists by the Director of Primary Health Care (DPHC) and the Edo North Monitor on Covid-19, Dr Iraoya Howiks.

The Director who spoke at the flag off of the scale 3.0 strategy for Covid-19 vaccination by the Head of Akoko Edo Local Government Administration and Acting Chairman, Dr Innocent Alenoghena, noted that the Scale 3.0 became necessary to reenergize activities to ensure that the Council continues to maintain its lead.

Earlier while flagging off the Scale 3.0 Strategy, the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Alenoghena reiterated the State Government’s commitment to ensuring that the health of Edo State citizens was a top priority of government.

‘’Our mission is to move Edo State forward having maintained our number one position on Covid-19 immunization. This is why our collaboration with our health workers is key’’

He disclosed that the vaccine will be taken at designated places like churches, mosques, schools and market places where teams will be on ground to capture eligible people who are 18 years and above.

While calling on everyone to make use of the opportunity to get vaccinated, he noted that it was also time for those who have been previously vaccinated to reach out to the health workers for booster doses to reinforce the potency of the vaccine.
