Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in cult activities, following a coordinated operation in Uromi.
The suspects, Julius Oseyomon (64), Abraham Erumosele Momo (54), Solomon Oboigbe (27), and Fidelis Omale (26), were arrested on March 24, 2026, at approximately 0200hrs.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the arrests were made by officers of the Uromi Division acting on credible intelligence. The suspects were apprehended at Ewoyi Quarters and are residents of Atani and Eco Obedo, all located in Uromi.
The police operation resulted in the recovery of significant weaponry, including four English pump-action guns, nine live cartridges, and three expended cartridges.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity and that the recovered firearms were obtained illegally.
ASP Ikoedem stated that the suspects have been arraigned before a court of law and will be prosecuted after a thorough investigation.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, lauded the officers involved for their professionalism and swift response. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating cultism and other criminal activities throughout the state, as well as the ongoing effort to remove illegal firearms from circulation.
