APC Chairman Calls for Governor Obaseki’s Resignation

The Chairman of the Edo State All Progressive Congress (APC), Col David Imuse (rted.), has openly demanded the resignation of Governor Godwin Obaseki, as concerns arise about the collapse of governance in the state.

Imuse’s call for resignation comes in response to Governor Obaseki’s announcement that governance will take a backseat to campaign activities.

He argues that Obaseki’s resignation would provide the Independent National Electoral Commission with the opportunity to prepare for a fresh governorship election in Edo State.

Expressing his concerns through a statement by the party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary, Ofure Osehobo, the APC Chairman observed, “Governance in the state has finally come to a halt.”

Imuse criticized Obaseki’s claim that he will prioritize campaigning for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, while governance suffers.

He further asserted that Obaseki had run out of ideas since his second term in office began, even losing the original copy of his manifesto labeled “Make Edo Grounded Again.”

According to him, Obaseki’s absence from the state capital, Benin City, and his preoccupation with signing agreements, MOUs, and campaigning for an election in which he is not a candidate, highlight his cluelessness.

Imuse further noted the irony of Obaseki’s actions, highlighting that Atiku, the PDP Presidential candidate, is focusing on his investments abroad while other PDP governors fulfill their campaign duties.

He concluded, “Edo State today is not a democracy but a dictatorship with Mr. Godwin Obaseki as the Executive, the legislature, and the Judiciary; hence our call for the governor to resign with immediate effect.”
