Obaseki stated, “If they try what they tried last Thursday again, Nigeria will burn, and I will lead it.” He accused the government of failing to arrest those responsible for the attack on his convoy, which resulted in the death of a police orderly.
The APC, in a statement by its Acting State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, condemned Obaseki’s comments as a “descent into madness” that could incite public unrest. The party accused Obaseki of promoting state-sponsored extrajudicial killings and demanded his impeachment to prevent further chaos.
The APC statement read, “Obaseki’s violent threat to Nigeria and Nigerians must be tamed to avoid anarchy and breakdown of law and order… We urge the speaker and members of Edo State House of Assembly to immediately start his impeachment process, which has become overdue.”
The APC urgently appeals to the Edo State House of Assembly to condemn Obaseki’s reckless statement and take necessary steps to prevent any further escalation.
