The Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised serious concerns over a viral video where Governor Godwin Obaseki allegedly threatened that Nigeria would burn. In the video, Obaseki threatened to lead a nationwide uprising if the government fails to address the alleged targeting of his party members.
Obaseki stated, “If they try what they tried last Thursday again, Nigeria will burn, and I will lead it.” He accused the government of failing to arrest those responsible for the attack on his convoy, which resulted in the death of a police orderly.
The APC, in a statement by its Acting State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, condemned Obaseki’s comments as a “descent into madness” that could incite public unrest. The party accused Obaseki of promoting state-sponsored extrajudicial killings and demanded his impeachment to prevent further chaos.
