The Edo State House of Assembly has approved a N100 billion loan for Governor Monday Okpebholo to facilitate infrastructural development projects throughout the state. The approval followed a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, on Monday.
The letter, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, indicated that the loan facility would be sourced from First Bank Nigeria Plc. The stated purpose of the loan, as outlined in the letter titled “Request for Legislative Approval of N100 billion,” is to support contractors’ financing for ongoing infrastructure projects across Edo State.
During the Committee of the Whole session, lawmakers unanimously voiced their support for the N100 billion request, expressing confidence that it would enable the completion of all ongoing infrastructure projects within the state.
Speaker Agbebaku has directed the Clerk of the House, Yahaya Omognai, to forward copies of the resolution approving the request to the Governor for immediate implementation.
In related news, the House also passed a bill establishing St. Matthew Royal College of Nursing Science, Edenu-Irrua.
