The Edo State Government, through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has engaged with Mrs. Veronica Igbe, CEO of Vesa Fisheries, to explore initiatives aimed at advancing women’s economic development in the region.
The consultation was led by Chief Bisi Idaomi, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, during a visit to the Vesa Fisheries Headquarters in Benin City. This meeting aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing women’s welfare and fostering economic growth within the state.
Discussions centered around several collaborative opportunities, including the establishment of a crèche for market women who are nursing mothers, as well as training programs for women entering the fish business and other related entrepreneurial areas.
In acknowledging Mrs. Igbe’s contributions to the business landscape, Commissioner Idaomi stated, “Mrs. Igbe is a business mogul, and her legacy serves as an inspiration for women throughout the state.”
Mrs. Igbe expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, commending the Commissioner and her team for their visionary leadership. She noted, “This collaboration has the potential to drive significant prosperity, with a far-reaching economic impact on women and their families.”
The partnership is poised to create vital support systems for women in Edo State, thereby fostering economic independence and sustainability.
