In a move aimed at bolstering youth participation in governance, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Hon. Christopher Uhuekpeman Udobor Iyase as his Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation.
Iyase officially assumed his duties at the Government House last Friday. Youths from across the state accompanied him, and Rev. Frank Omobude, Chairman of the Edo State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, led prayers for his success.
Speaking to the press, Iyase stressed the importance of inclusiveness and grassroots engagement in achieving the goals of the governor’s SHINE agenda. He stated that his approach would focus on involving youths at the local government level, ensuring broad participation.
“This is not the era of ‘I alone’,” Iyase stated, emphasizing collaborative efforts to ensure the SHINE agenda’s success.
The appointment follows the dismissal of the previous Special Adviser, Collins Aigbogun, in relation to a violent episode in Ekpoma. Governor Okpebholo’s decision highlights his administration’s dedication to fostering peace, unity, and responsible youth leadership within the state.
