Edo govt sacks Commissioner for Roads, bridges over Poor Scorecard

The Edo State Government has announced the removal of the Commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Engr. Newton Okojie.

“The Honorable Commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Engr. Newton Okojie, has been relieved of his office,” stated a statement from Mr. Chris Osa Nehikhare, Commissioner for Communication and Orientation.

“The Commissioner was wished well in his future endeavors by the Governor, who also expressed gratitude for his service to the state.

He said, “It is regrettable that we have not been able to make the expected progress in our road infrastructure, especially in the last 12 months.”

“Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, the commissioner was unable to achieve the necessary progress for the state government to accomplish its objective.”

Up until a new commissioner is appointed, Nehikhare stated, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Engr. Osikhena Omoh Ojior, will be in charge.
