Edo Govt seals Selaf Specialist Hospital in Uromi

In a continued endeavor to clean up the healthcare system and get rid of quacks, the Edo State Government has sealed the Selaf Specialist Hospital in Uromi, Esan-North-East Local Government Area.

The hospital was overrun by representatives of the Edo State Ministry of Health, who were led by the Directors of Medical Services and Nursing Services, Dr. Edward Aisowerien and Mrs. Patricia Osazuwa. The hospital was closed indefinitely for a number of infractions, such as operating without a permit, hiring unfit staff, hiring quacks, and failing to follow rules and regulations.

Following the hospital’s closure, Dr. Edward Aisowerien, Director of Medical Services, made a statement stating that the action was a component of the continuous enforcement efforts aimed at controlling and purging the healthcare system.

“We learned recently that this facility has been training and acclimating quack nurses.”

“We found via our inquiry that Selaf Specialist Hospital is not a Ministry of Health-registered hospital. They assert that the Corporate Affairs Commission has their registration. After being questioned, the facility’s owner disclosed that they have been in operation for around 2.5 years.

“We are appealing to the people of Edo through this medium that things are not going to be the same as they were.”

He said that the ministry will release rules to the state’s registration site soon so that anybody interested in managing private facilities could become acquainted with the prerequisites.

“This facility will be permanently shut for the time being. This facility’s owner will be found and turned up to law enforcement for possible prosecution.

“As we intensify our efforts to fortify and reform our healthcare system, we are pleading with the Edo people for assistance. We can’t finish this task by ourselves. Please report to the Ministry of Health anything that you observe or believe to be incorrect. We are depending on your assistance to stop these dishonest people from endangering our lives in order to further their own self-interest.” he added.
