Edo NDLEA Arrests 46 Suspects, Seizes Tonnes of Illicit Drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Edo Command has announced the arrest of 46 individuals suspected of involvement in drug-related crimes.
According to the agency, 39,983 kilograms of assorted illicit substances were confiscated during operations conducted in July.
The state commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, attributed the success to intelligence-driven operations targeting notorious drug hotspots. The seized substances include cannabis, psychotropic substances, methamphetamine, cocaine, and codeine syrup.
Additionally, the agency destroyed seven cannabis farms spanning 15.85 hectares in Oke Forest and Ewere Forest.
Over 8,000 individuals were reached through sensitisation programmes, while 32 individuals received brief intervention counselling and 11 others underwent rehabilitation.
The agency has vowed to prosecute all suspects and dismantle drug cartels operating in the state.
