The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Oladele Bankole-Balogun, has expressed confidence in achieving an ambitious annual revenue generation goal of N120 billion for the state. During a recent meeting with unit heads, zonal, and branch managers at the Corporate Headquarters in Benin City, Bankole-Balogun outlined a strategic plan to reach a monthly revenue target of N10 billion.
Bankole-Balogun emphasized that this revenue milestone is attainable through a comprehensive digitization of operations, expansion of the tax net, improved compliance measures, enforcement actions, and proactive tax awareness campaigns.
He underscored the sustainability of this target while highlighting the critical role of staff welfare and training in enhancing overall efficiency and revenue collection.
As part of the ongoing transformation within the EIRS, Bankole-Balogun aligned the service’s objectives with the five-point agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, which focuses on health, security, infrastructure, education, and agriculture. These priorities are designed to underpin the state’s development goals.
Reflecting on previous commitments, Bankole-Balogun reminded staff that the new board had pledged to deliver a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N10 billion to the Okpebholo-led government. He urged employees to remain dedicated to the service’s objectives, stressing that maximizing tax collection and refining existing processes are essential for realizing the revenue targets.
Bankole-Balogun commended the staff for their contributions to the EIRS’s successes thus far. He reassured them of the administration’s commitment to prioritizing their welfare and investing in capacity-building initiatives that will ultimately enhance productivity and service delivery.
