Edo State Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board makes Arrangements for a hitch-free 2023 Hajj
The Edo State Government has taken proactive measures to guarantee a hitch-free Hajj exercise in 2023 by mobilizing the Edo State Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board to make necessary arrangements for intending pilgrims. This move aims to address previous challenges and ensure a smooth experience for all participants.
Sheikh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, Chairman of the Edo State Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board, disclosed this during a sensitization program in Benin City, emphasizing the board’s efforts to secure quality accommodation, feeding, and transportation in Saudi Arabia. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Arabian Authority to facilitate arrangements.
Oyarekhua announced that the first flight to airlift pilgrims to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for May 22, adding that the board has made significant progress in preparing for the 2023 Hajj operations. He highlighted the importance of this year’s exercise, citing the increased number of slots allocated to Nigeria by the Saudi Arabian authority.
Iduoze Eselegbe, Executive Secretary of the Board, urged intending pilgrims to make a deposit of 2.7 million naira before the commencement of Ramadan, expected to begin on March 23rd. He commended the Edo State Government for its support in facilitating the pre-Hajj arrangements.
Other dignitaries, including the Chief Imam of Benin, Sheikh Abdulfatah Enabulele, and Mallam Nurudeen Asunogie, representing the Edo State Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, emphasized the need for stakeholders to disseminate information and ensure a successful Hajj exercise.
