Edo State’s 8th House of Assembly Sets Legislative Calendar

The Edo State 8th House of Assembly has approved a 60-day business calendar to kick off legislative activities for the first quarter of its inaugural session.

During a house session, Sunny Ojiezele, the PDP representative for Esan South-East, and Kingsley Ugabi, the APC Estako East representative, proposed the adoption of the business calendar.

In his motion, Ojiezele stated that the first session would consist of 60 sitting days dedicated to legislative activities.

He detailed that the months of June, July, and August would have 11, 26, and 23 days, respectively, with Thursdays and Fridays reserved for committee meetings and oversight functions.

By voice vote, the lawmakers approved the legislative calendar for the session in unanimity.

During the plenary, the speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, expressed gratitude to the people of Edo for entrusting the 8th Assembly lawmakers with the mandate to represent them.

He extended his congratulations on their successful inauguration, which signaled the start of legislative activities.

Agbebaku stated, “These seats we are occupying are not for us but for Edo people. We are only holding them in trust for the people.

“We are here to ensure that the dividends of democracy get to our people. We will ensure that we work in synergy with the executive to make Edo great again.”

Furthermore, Agbebaku expressed his gratitude to the governor for the opportunity and assured the house’s cooperation to achieve the ‘Make Edo Great Again’ (MEGA) agenda of the governor.
