EdoHIS: Obaseki Urges Retired Civil Servants to Join Health Scheme
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has called on retired senior civil servants to enroll in the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme (EdoHIS).
He made the appeal on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the farewell ceremony for some retired senior civil servants at Government House, Benin City.
Obaseki praised the retirees for their service to the State and for their loyalty to his administration.
He said, “We have launched the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme (EdoHIS) as part of our overhaul of our healthcare system.
“Please check out that scheme and see how it can benefit you,” the Governor advised.
The EdoHIS package offers individual health plans with different costs, such as the equity, student, bronze, silver, gold and platinum plans. It also has a family plan that gives 5% discount for a family of four and above on any health plan.
He stressed that civil and public servants have a key role in ensuring that the reforms of his administration are maintained.
He said, “Civil servants are not speaking enough, and they are letting others shape the narrative.
“If you don’t speak up so that we can get more support from the communities to keep the reforms we have made, then we cannot assure that we will keep these reforms.”
The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq, also spoke at the ceremony. He thanked the retirees for their input to the growth and development of the Service, adding that they should be willing to give their advice when needed.
He said, “We are honored to have worked with great men and women like you, who have shared their rich experience with many of us.
“I can confidently say that the foundations that you solidly laid in your time have greatly helped the successes that we have today.”
The former Head of Service, Mr. Isaac Ebose Ehiozuwa, who spoke on behalf of the retirees, expressed gratitude to the State Government for the chances to serve.
He said, “I want to thank the Governor of Edo State for the transformation that he has brought to Edo State.
“Edo State is now in the spotlight of the whole nation. Even the federal government and other states are learning from Edo State.”
The list of retirees includes 2 Heads of service and 19 Permanent Secretaries, including the current Edo State Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Iyamu SAN, who served as a Permanent Secretary.
