INEC Declares Okpebholo Edo Governorship Election Winner

Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a decisive win in the Edo State governorship election, outpacing his main opponents.
Okpebholo garnered 291,667 votes, surpassing Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who secured 247,274 votes. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party trailed behind with 22,763 votes.

Prof. Faruk Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and Returning Officer, declared: “That Okpebholo, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
The election outcome defies traditional voting patterns in Edo State, where the PDP has historically dominated Edo Central and Edo South, while the APC has maintained a stronghold in Edo North.
