Obaseki Emphasizes Fairness and Inclusion in Search for Successor

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has stressed the importance of fairness, equity, and inclusion in the process of selecting his successor for the upcoming governorship election in 2024.

Obaseki made this known yesterday in Benin on Friday while addressing journalists and expressed his commitment to finishing his term strongly and ensuring that Edo remains unified.

Governor Obaseki stated, “It is not my role to determine or anoint a successor, but it is crucial that the process reflects fairness, equity, and inclusion. Our objective is to keep Edo State united.”

He further added, “This is the only potential issue that I foresee, but it should not hinder us. As an administration, our priority is to fulfill all the promises we made to the people of Edo State during our campaign.”

Regarding his relationship with Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Governor Obaseki clarified, “I bear no personal grudges against the Deputy Governor. From my perspective, the matters at hand are clear and straightforward.”
