Obaseki Host Auto Part Dealers to Check Criminality, Sanitation in Markets

The new leaders and members of the Auto Spare Part Dealers Association (ASPDA) in Evbareke, Egor Local Government Area of the state, met with the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday. The governor asked the group to work with the government to curb crime and keep the market clean.

The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, at the Government House, Benin City, praised the spare part dealers for their contribution to the state’s economy and advised them to follow the law.

The governor said, “I congratulate the new executive members of this wonderful union. I assure you that the Governor Obaseki-led administration is ready to cooperate with you, as we recognize the value of traders to the state’s economy.

“We appreciate your role in the economic development of Edo and we want to cooperate with you. As the state government is law-abiding, we expect the same from you.”

He added: “You are a well-organized group and I urge your members to respect and obey the law, as we have had sanitation problems around the market. As the new leaders of the market, you have to persuade your people to follow the state government’s laws.

“We have the records of all your members who trade at Evbareke Spare Part Market and as a government, we want to work with your group. We have many plans to implement in the market. We want you to collaborate with your members and provide us with their data, as it will help us to prevent crime.”

“As a government, we will do our part to ensure that we promote and support development in the market, as we have an open-door policy,” Obaseki said.

Before that, the President-General of Auto Spare Part Dealers Association (ASPDA), Mr. Osamuyi Iyamu, said the group came to the Government House to present the new executive members to Governor Obaseki, promising their backing for the government’s Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda.
