Obaseki Launches Second Phase of Christian Feeding Programme, Distributes 56,250 Bags of Rice
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has initiated the second phase of the Christian Feeding Programme (CFP), aiming to alleviate economic hardship by distributing 56,250 bags of 10 kg of rice across the state.
Joined by leaders and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and other Christian bodies, Obaseki inspected the warehouse in Benin City, where Apostle Irekpono Omoike, Chairman of CAN, Edo State Chapter, outlined the distribution plan.
The breakdown reveals that Edo South will receive 21,875 bags, Edo Central will get 15,625 bags, and Edo North will receive 18,750 bags.
Obaseki highlighted the success of the first phase, which benefited over 50,000 families, commending Christian leaders for their dedication.
He stated, “If resources are managed effectively, they can significantly impact people. The current leadership is not supporting Nigerians. This programme demonstrates transparency and honesty, serving the public good rather than private interests.”
Obaseki emphasized the need for transparency and trust, urging citizens not to exacerbate the situation. He announced plans for a third phase, which will include conditional cash transfers, skill development programs, agricultural support, and trade assistance.
