Obaseki loses as INEC recognises Orbih’s Edo PDP faction

In a protracted battle between Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, a resolution seems to have been reached. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognized the candidates produced by the latter faction during the primary held in May.

The two factions conducted separate primaries, each yielding candidates for various elective positions. Notably, all the PDP candidates listed were those who emerged victorious in the primaries conducted by Orbih’s faction.

According to INEC, this action was taken in compliance with a court order.
