Obaseki Mourns the Late Enogie of Obazuwa-Iko, HRH. Agharese Edun Akenzua

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, visited the family of the late Enogie of Obazuwa-Iko, HRH. Agharese Edun Akenzua, to pay his respects and honor the memory of the revered traditional ruler.

Describing HRH. Agharese Edun Akenzua as a principled man who epitomized truth and clarity throughout his life, Governor Obaseki commended his commitment to upholding values and guiding others on various issues.

During the condolence visit in Benin City on Sunday, August 28, 2022, Governor Obaseki reflected on the profound impact of HRH. Agharese Edun Akenzua’s wisdom and mentorship, highlighting his role as a beacon of knowledge and professionalism. The Governor emphasized the enduring connection between his family and the late traditional ruler, spanning over seven decades of shared history and support.

“We thank God that he lived; he was a great Edo man of the kingdom. He was an encyclopedia and the epitome of a professional journalist; whenever we were unclear about something, he always provided an explanation.” he remarked.

He went on, “For me, we have been family for the past 70 years or more, as you are aware. He attended the same school as my mother, which explains why they supported me during my political struggles.

“He will not be sitting here with me because this is my first visit to this house. However, we are grateful to God for his life.”

The family received assurances from the governor that the Edo State Government would support them during their time of loss.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince Agharese Akenzua thanked the Governor for empathizing with their loss.
