Obaseki Urges Edo people, Commuters to Plead with FG to Allow Him Fix Federal Roads
In a passionate appeal, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, expressed his frustration over the refusal of the Federal Government to permit the state government to repair the dilapidated federal roads within Edo State.
The governor shared his concerns while addressing the congregation at the inauguration and enthronement of Ven. Ebenezer Omeiza Saiki as the second Diocesan Bishop of Akoko-Edo Diocese.
Governor Obaseki highlighted the dire state of the roads and emphasized the urgent need for intervention to alleviate the suffering of the people. He urged residents and road users to join him in pleading with the Federal Government to grant permission for the state to tackle the road repairs.
Reflecting on a recent incident, the governor shared how he was unable to attend the Abba Festival in Igarra due to the lack of a suitable road. He expressed his desire to fix the damaged roads but stressed the necessity of support from Abuja, as the Federal Government is responsible for these roads.
Beyond the road issue, Governor Obaseki emphasized the importance of collaboration between political and religious leaders to foster growth and development. He recognized the invaluable role of the Church, as people often turn to religious leaders in times of need and hopelessness
The governor acknowledged the limitations of his reach and acknowledged that, at times, religious leaders can provide more assistance to the people than the government can.
