Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has fulfilled his promise to provide a 2.5MVA injection sub-station to Udomi community in Esan Central, a move aimed at boosting electricity supply and driving economic growth in the area.
During an inspection tour of the completed project on Monday, Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating that the sub-station would provide a reliable source of electricity to the community and its surroundings.
“The people of Udomi have never witnessed such infrastructure,” Okpebholo said. “This project will improve development, connect nearby communities to steady electricity, and stimulate economic growth by powering businesses.”
The governor reiterated his commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promising to deliver more infrastructure projects that uplift lives and drive inclusive development.
Okpebholo also inspected the ongoing construction of the new Edo State College of Nursing, Health Sciences, and Technology in Udomi, thanking the Edo State House of Assembly for supporting the bill that enabled the project’s approval and commencement.
Mr. Mokwenye Jidenmah, Business Head of Benin City Distribution Company, praised the governor’s effort, confirming that multiple communities would benefit from the upgraded power supply.
“The station will step down a 33KVA line to 11KVA, energising over nine transformers to supply power across Udomi and neighboring areas,” Jidenmah explained. “The second phase of the electricity project will link six communities, including Udomi 1, Ujabhole 1, Unogbo, Idimoghodor, Ibhioloulu, and Afuda.”
