Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has signed a revised Appropriation Bill amounting to N485.63 billion, a pivotal move aimed at advancing the state’s developmental initiatives.
The bill, which received the green light from the Edo State House of Assembly, allocates N202.65 billion for recurrent expenditures and N282.99 billion for capital projects, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and public services throughout the region.
Following the signing ceremony held at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor Okpebholo expressed his appreciation to the lawmakers for their prompt action in approving the bill.
He stated, “I want to thank you for your cooperation and the speedy passage of this Bill. With this momentum, Edo State is poised to experience remarkable development. I see a team of dedicated individuals ready to work for the betterment of our state.”
The event was attended by Honourable Blessing Agbebaku, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, along with other legislative members. In his remarks, Speaker Agbebaku emphasized the assembly’s commitment to supporting the governor’s vision and facilitating a smooth governance transition.
He remarked, “The 8th Assembly expedited the passage of this appropriation law to enable the new administration to commence its projects without delay. Government is a continuum, and we are committed to fostering development for the people of Edo State.”
Originally presented on November 13, 2024, the revised bill’s swift deliberation highlights the effective collaboration between the executive and legislative branches of the Edo State government, setting a solid foundation for future progress.
