The Edo State Head of Service (HOS), Anthony Okungbowa Esq., has officially inaugurated the organizing committee for the highly anticipated maiden edition of the HOS football tournament set to take place in Benin City.
The eight-member committee, chaired by seasoned sports administrator Victor Edokpayi, boasts the expertise of FIFA-graded referee Faith Irabor, among others.
During the inauguration held at the Government House, Mr. Okungbowa revealed that the tournament’s prestigious cup was generously donated by a philanthropic individual who deeply acknowledges the remarkable work of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the state.
“This will be an unprecedented event, and we must express our gratitude to Governor Obaseki, the Deputy Governor, and all those who are dedicated to the growth of sports in the State,” Okungbowa mentioned.
He urged the committee members to collaborate seamlessly in order to organize a highly successful football tournament, expressing his unwavering confidence in their abilities.
Okungbowa charged the committee to strive for excellence and ensure that the HOS Cup sets an unprecedented standard. Despite the absence of a previous edition, he emphasized the importance of delivering an exceptional tournament that would surpass all expectations.
Rest assured, the State Government stands fully prepared to provide the committee with all necessary support and resources to elevate the football fiesta to new heights.
In response, Chairman Victor Edokpayi assured the Head of Service that the committee is dedicated to fulfilling its responsibilities and going above and beyond expectations.
He emphasized that the HOS football tournament will provide an exceptional platform for civil and public servants to engage socially and embrace physical well-being, in line with the tournament’s objectives.
