The Onojie of Ekpoma, His Royal Highness, Abumere Anthony Ehizojie II, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Dr. Thomas Attah.
The traditional ruler conferred the “Ekpen of Ekpoma Kingdom,” meaning “The Leopard of Ekpoma, on Attah during the Annual (Ihuen) festival held in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo, on Friday.
Conferring the title, the Onojie of Ekpoma said the conferment and honor were hinged on Attah’s love for the people and service to humanity.
He said the Ekpoma kingdom was proud of him and his achievements.
In response, Attah expressed gratitude to the Onojie for the honour.
He promised to continue his service to humanity.
He, however, appealed to people of his status to dedicate themselves to community service.

“It is a great honour, and I am very grateful for it. This is a testament to the need for community development.
“And I want to advocate and appeal to the people of my status, but also contemporaries, that we should all dedicate ourselves to community service.
“Let us also try as we can to be of good tidings to our fellow folks.
“My promise to the people of Esanland, but also to Edo State in general, is that I will continue to deliver and give more to society. And also try to see how I can add value anywhere I find myself,” Attah said.
Mrs. Julian Thomas Attah, the wife, thanked the traditional ruler for the honour and promised to support her husband in community service.
Some of Dr. Attah’s friends and associates who spoke on the chieftaincy title said the honour is well deserved.
Mr. Aideyanjie Christopher, said the conferment of chieftaincy title on Attah is long overdue.
Christopher, Assistant Director, Information and Communication, Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), said Attah deserved the honour due to his contribution to humanity.
He described Dr. Attah as somebody with a heart of gold.
“This title is very deserving because of his contributions to humanity, not just above his people, not just among the Esan people, but throughout the nation.
“He is somebody of a very high personality, he is kind to a fault, he is very supportive and I think this title is long over due,” Mr Christopher said
