Oshiomhole plans to oust Obaseki through impeachment, says Osagie

The special adviser to the governor of Edo State on media projects, Crusoe Osagie, claims that the recent remarks made by the outgoing governor, Adams Oshiomhole, regarding the outcome of governor Godwin Obaseki in the Edo State House of Assembly polls reveal Oshiomhole’s cunning scheme to remove Obaseki through impeachment.

Osagie expressed confidence in a statement released on Sunday that the people of Edo, just as they did in 2020, will turn out in large numbers to support the governor on Saturday, March 11, and elect a House controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party.

“Recent remarks made by former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole regarding the outcome of governor Godwin Obaseki in the Edo State House of Assembly polls reveal his cunning scheme to remove the incumbent governor through impeachment,” Osagie noted.

“As it happened in 2020 when Oshiomhole and his backers intimidated and harassed the governor, we are optimistic that the people of Edo will rise up in support of the governor at the polls on Saturday, March 11; cast a sizable majority for the Peoples Democratic Party and elect a PDP-controlled House.

“Obaseki has never put his trust in a man or a godfather. He has put his trust in both the people and God.”

But according to Oshiomhole’s chief media aide Victor Oshioke, Obaseki is afraid of what will happen when his reign of terror comes to an end.

He said, “Godwin Obaseki is a corrosive politician whose attitudes are patently leprous in nature. He contaminates and destroys any party, place, or person that he associates with.

“He is been ruling Edo State like Herod for nearly seven years. totally callous to the hopes, grievances, and cries of the electorate that chose him.

“Yet in the presidential, senate, and house of representatives polls conducted on February 25, 2023, the people of Edo categorically rejected him and his PDP faction. Godwin Obaseki’s irrational, cruel, and careless use of state power to terrorize, intimidate, and impoverish our people has resulted in the Edo State PDP losing all seats in the national assembly for the first time since democracy was restored in 1999.”

He went on to say that Oshiomhole was not God and that no man was. He has never claimed to have divine authority, so the electorate will have to decide who is elected to the House of Assembly; he cannot appoint or dictate that.
