Unidentified Gunmen Kidnap Dangote Cement Employees in Okpella
On Monday, a group of individuals, believed to be armed kidnappers, seized an unknown number of employees from Dangote Cement Company Plc, located in Okpella, Etsako West local government area of Edo state.
According to a source, the employees were returning to Okpella town in a coaster bus after their workday when they were intercepted and abducted by the armed group.
A local resident of Okpella confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, we heard of it, they said they were in a Coaster bus coming to town after work when they were kidnapped by gunmen. But we don’t know the numbers of the workers that have been kidnapped”.
Further information revealed that the armed group, who had been lying in wait, emerged from the bush and forced the bus to stop at gunpoint. They then took their victims into the bush, leaving some others with gunshot wounds.
Attempts to confirm the incident with the police were unsuccessful, as neither the Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, nor the command spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, were available for comments.
