The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Edo Command, has completed the second phase of its orientation and training program, designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of its officers and men.
The training, held on Tuesday in Benin City, saw participation from senior officers across the state command, highlighting the initiative’s importance in ongoing capacity-building efforts.
According to Mr. Daniel Akeme, the State Commandant of the VGN, represented by his Assistant, Sunday Aigbokie, the exercise focused on equipping personnel with practical skills essential for effective community policing and vigilance duties.
The Commandant emphasized the command’s commitment to improving operational standards and strengthening collaborative efforts with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property throughout Edo State.
During the training, the State Provost, Williams Osemwegie, and the State Intelligence Officer, Victor Adeloje, urged participants to maintain discipline, professionalism, and integrity while performing their duties. They stressed that public trust in the organization is directly linked to the conduct of its personnel.
In a significant move to foster inter-agency cooperation, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Evbuotubu Division, CSP Ifa Uwadiae, represented by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), SP Oyariogbezina Charles, delivered a session on safety protocols and lawful engagement. This session aimed to strengthen the synergy between the VGN and the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order within the state.
The training also included a presentation of souvenirs from the Oredo Command to visiting officers and police representatives, symbolizing the shared commitment to community safety and the strong working relationship between the organizations.
