Workers Day: Obaseki hails Edo workers, assures on implementation of institutional reforms to sustain policies on welfare

In recognition of the 2023 Worker’s Day celebration, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State, has highlighted the state government’s efforts in implementing institutional reforms to maintain the progress made in enhancing workers’ welfare.

The governor pointed out that these reforms encompass new legislation, capacity building programs, and policy modifications that contribute to the development of a robust and dynamic workforce.

He stated, “We have significantly upgraded the compensation and benefits system for workers, positioning Edo as the sub-national entity with the most competitive salary structure in Nigeria. We are investing in our workers’ health and well-being. We have initiated an affordable health insurance scheme that has facilitated improved access to quality healthcare for all workers. We are also implementing a contributory pension scheme that will ensure consistent pension payments for our retired workers.
