Yuletide: Obaseki Approves Early Payment of Salaries, Pensions

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has approved early payment of salaries and pensions to the state workers.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie said workers and pensioners received their salaries and pensions on Friday, December 16, 2022, in line with the administration’s policy to pay workers and pensions as and when due.

“His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has paid the salaries and pensions of workers and pensioners in the state for the month of December, 2022,” he declared.

It is customary for us to pay employees by the 26th of each month, at the latest. We understand that employees would prefer to shop early in December in order to take advantage of the Yuletide festivities. To make this possible, the governor approved the early payment of salaries.”

He stated that Edo is now “the most attractive public employer in Nigeria” as a result of comprehensive reforms in the state’s public and civil services, underscoring the importance the state government places on worker welfare.
