Lampese to Host Edo’s Landmark Calcium Carbonate Factory

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has announced the establishment of one of Nigeria’s largest coated calcium carbonate factories in Lampese, within the Akoko Edo Local Government Area. The Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Hon. Enaholo Ojiefoh, revealed that the factory is currently under construction and is projected to operate at a capacity of 200,000 metric tons.

In addition to this, Rosatum, a leading nuclear energy firm in Europe, has initiated lithium exploration activities in Edo and received authorization from the state government to construct a lithium processing facility. “Land has been allocated for the company to build a lithium processing plant, which will soon start producing lithium batteries,” stated Ojiefoh.

He continued, “The commitment to industrialization is evident as Edo State Government prepares to host the groundbreaking ceremony for this major coated calcium carbonate factory. The facility, situated in Lampese, will significantly contribute to the state’s economic growth and development. Also, a Commodities Trading and Mineral Analysis Center is nearing completion in Dangbala, Akoko-Edo.”

Ojiefoh also highlighted the state government’s acquisition of over 40 new licenses for solid mineral deposits via Associates Mining and Investment Company. This strategic move allows the state to lease these licenses to private investors, thereby catalyzing the exploitation of the state’s mineral resources.

The Commissioner went on to say that the construction of processing plants in the State by at least three multinational corporations is a sign that the solid mineral market in the State is reaching maturity.
