Obaseki Donates Bus to Edo NUJ

In a generous act of support for journalism in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has gifted a 15-seater Toyota Hiace Bus to the local Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ). This gesture aims to bolster the union’s capacity to perform its journalistic responsibilities with greater efficacy.

The official handover took place at the Oba Oguola Press Center, with the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Osaigbovo Iyoha, expressing gratitude to the journalists for their unwavering commitment to their profession and their role in fostering societal growth and development in partnership with the state government.

Dr. Iyoha, representing Governor Obaseki, remarked, “In alignment with the pledge made by His Excellency during a recent gathering here, it is my honor to present this new vehicle to the NUJ on behalf of Edo State’s Governor.”

He continued, “Your work’s significance is immeasurable, and we trust that you will continue to uphold the truth in your reporting. Your efforts as our allies in progress are deeply valued by the people of Edo State.”

Responding to the donation, NUJ Edo Chairman Festus Alenkhe lauded the Governor for his steadfastness in keeping his word to the union. He assured that the journalists would maintain their collaborative efforts with the government to ensure ongoing advancement and prosperity for the state.

Alenkhe stated, “On behalf of the NUJ leadership in Edo, we extend our profound thanks to the Governor for this new bus. We pledge to utilize it as intended, primarily for journalistic assignments within and beyond Edo State, and to continue delivering balanced reporting.”

He concluded with a message of joy and appreciation from the journalists, “We are elated, and our expressions of happiness are evident. Rest assured, this news will be shared far and wide.”
