Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to ensure the safety, welfare, and security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members assigned to the state during their service year.
The governor conveyed this assurance through his deputy, Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa, at the swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch C Stream One corps members, which took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Okada, located in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area.
In his address, Governor Okpebholo highlighted the essential role of the NYSC in fostering national unity, driving development, and empowering young Nigerians. He urged the corps members to fully engage with the NYSC management and to take advantage of the opportunities available to acquire valuable skills and knowledge throughout their service year.
Mrs. Ben-Ushie Francis, the State Coordinator for NYSC in Edo, also addressed the new corps members, inviting them to view their service as a chance to forge meaningful connections and friendships with individuals from various backgrounds. She emphasized the importance of building networks that could serve them well in the future.
A significant moment of the ceremony was the administration of the oath of allegiance, which was conducted by the Edo State Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Iyobosa Okungbowa, represented by Hon. Justice V.O. Eborieme.
The event marked the beginning of an important journey for the corps members as they prepare to contribute to the development of their communities while embracing the spirit of camaraderie that the NYSC embodies.
