The Edo State Skills Development Agency, commonly referred to as EdoJobs, has announced its ambitious plan to provide training for 25,000 youths across various skill sets in the current year.
This announcement was made by the agency’s Managing Director, Mr. Kerimu Kelly, during a visit from the leadership of the Grassroot Massive Mobilisation Support Group of the All Progressives Congress in Benin on Thursday.
Mr. Kelly emphasized that this initiative is part of the Edo State Government’s broader strategy to empower young individuals, fostering self-sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods.
He detailed the agency’s plans to initiate training sessions focusing on in-demand skills such as hairdressing, vulcanizing, and fashion design.
“I am always passionate about the grassroots, and what we do here is to train with the support of the government and other partners, like the World Bank,” Kelly stated, underscoring the collaborative nature of the program.
He further affirmed, “We will continue to partner with you. We will ensure the age-long partnership is reactivated. We have drawn up our activities for the year, and we will find a way to incorporate you.”
The visit from the Grassroot Massive Mobilisation Support Group was initiated by its coordinator, Mrs. Omoyemwen Adeyinka-Afolabi, who expressed the group’s intention to strengthen ties with EdoJobs.
She noted that the group has been actively engaged with local youth through EdoJobs training programs for several years.
Adebiyi-Afolabi highlighted the necessity of sustaining this collaboration to enhance the impact of skills training within communities. She also advocated for the agency’s continued support to bolster the group’s ongoing creative initiatives.
