Edo Deputy Governor Predicts APC Sweep in July 11 Local Government Polls

Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Dennis Idahosa, has voiced strong optimism that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in all local government areas during the upcoming council elections scheduled for July 11.

Idahosa made this declaration while addressing party leaders, faithful, and supporters at the official flag-off of the APC’s local government election campaign in Ovia South West Local Government Area.

The deputy governor highlighted the party’s intensified grassroots mobilisation efforts across the council, assuring residents of a robust campaign that would reach every community and ward. “We are going to campaign in all the nooks and crannies of Ovia South West to ensure that APC wins the day,” he stated confidently.

He noted that the campaign officially began with rallies in Udo, Iguobazuwa East, and Iguobazuwa West wards, where the party received overwhelming and enthusiastic support from residents. Idahosa described the massive turnout as a clear indication of growing public confidence in the APC and its candidates.

The deputy governor described the emergence of the party’s chairmanship candidate, Mr. Anthony Osarobo, as the dawn of a new era for the local government. He urged residents to rally behind the youthful and dynamic aspirant, describing him as a capable leader ready to deliver good governance at the grassroots level.

On his part, Osarobo expressed delight at the warm reception from the people, saying the high turnout demonstrated strong belief in the APC and the state’s leadership. He assured supporters of his commitment to effective representation and development if elected.

During the rallies, the party formally presented Osarobo and his running mate, Mr. Isaac Bakare, to the electorate. Councillorship candidates from the various wards were also introduced, giving them the opportunity to interact directly with voters and outline their vision for their respective wards.

The development signals the APC’s aggressive push to consolidate power at the local level following the release of the final list of candidates by the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC). With campaigns now in full swing, the party appears poised to leverage its incumbency advantage and widespread mobilisation to achieve a comprehensive victory across the state.
