Edo Queens continued their impressive run at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifying tournament by defeating defending champions ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire 3-1.
The Nigerian champions took full control of the Group B encounter with two first-half goals to secure their second consecutive victory of the tournament.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring for Edo Queens in the 23rd minute. Dooshima Tarnum then doubled the advantage shortly before half-time, giving the Nigerian side a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
ASEC Mimosas pulled one back in the 83rd minute through Doudou Yeti, briefly raising hopes of a late comeback for the Ivorian side. However, Edo Queens sealed the victory in the 89th minute when Umejaku Oluebube found the back of the net to make it 3-1.
The result takes Edo Queens to six points from two matches and places them in a strong position to progress from Group B.
Edo Queens had opened their campaign with a convincing 7-0 victory over AS Garde Nationale of Niger. The defeat leaves defending champions ASEC Mimosas with a difficult task in their bid to advance from the group.
Edo Queens FC will face Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC of Ghana on Sunday in their final group game of the qualifying tournament.
