Edo State Government Approves N1.87 Billion for Infrastructure Development
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has given the green light for a series of projects aimed at enhancing security, infrastructure, and economic growth in the state.
The approvals, totaling N1.87 billion, were announced by Commissioner for Orientation and Communication Andrew Emwanta after the weekly Executive Council meeting.
The projects include the construction of a forward operating base for the Nigerian Army in Ehor, Uhunmwode Local Government Area, to tackle insecurity in the region. The base is expected to cost N646 million.
Additionally, the government has approved the development of a detailed master plan for a new town layout in Ward 9, Ikpoba-Okha, at a cost of N750 million. The plan will include road design and infrastructure development.
The ‘Operation Light Up Edo Project’ has also received a boost, with N476.7 million allocated to extend power from the Ossiomo Independent Power Project to key public facilities, including the Government Science and Technical College, the Edo State Ministry of Education, and the Edo Broadcasting Service.
The project aims to illuminate more streetlights across the state, enhancing safety and security.
Emwanta emphasized that these projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to driving economic growth, improving infrastructure, and ensuring the safety and well-being of Edo State citizens.
