Labour Party Supporters Rally in Edo State, Vow to Secure Votes for Peter Obi’s Presidency

Thousands of passionate supporters and various support groups of the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, came together in a bustling town hall in Benin City, Edo State on Saturday. With unwavering determination, they pledged to secure votes in the state House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and the Senate to offer the crucial administrative support required for a successful Obi presidency.

In a bid to counteract the actions of alleged saboteurs attempting to infiltrate the party, these steadfast supporters demanded transparency and called for the unveiling of candidates vying for elective positions in the state. This information would allow them to scrutinize the contenders’ genuine intentions and ensure unity within the party.

At the gathering, Dennis Ogbeide, the President of the influential support group ‘No Controversy Organisation,’ affirmed their stance, stating, “We don’t want saboteurs in our party because they are reaching out to us. All those political armed robbers are there, so we want to know all our candidates. We want to know those who are not on the side of the political robbers.”

Addressing the crowd, the LP’s state chairman, Lucky Ogbaloi, revealed that the party devoted considerable time to carefully selecting candidates with remarkable track records, character, and integrity. He emphasized Peter Obi’s significant role as the LP’s presidential candidate, highlighting the need for successful candidates at various levels of government to work alongside Obi after his triumph in the upcoming elections.

Ogbaloi stressed the party’s determination to tackle any disruptive activities, asserting, “We have our hands on the plough; let us not look back. We are aware that some people are planning to do some funny things. We will put machinery in place to check this.”

He further articulated the distinctive qualities of the Labour Party, which sets it apart from other political parties. Emphasizing its ideology and trade union-driven approach, Ogbaloi outlined the party’s commitment to stimulating national progress, creating economic prosperity, and providing long-term social services for Nigerians. These objectives, he argued, are areas where both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the federal level have fallen short.
