Obaseki Vows to Revitalize School of Health Technology

In a promise to reform critical educational institutions across Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has pledged to revitalize the School of Health Technology in Benin City.

This commitment was expressed during a courtesy visit by officials and members of the institution’s Student Union Government, led by President Comrade Aloysius Igieneh, at the Government House.

The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, acknowledged the challenges faced by the institution and emphasized his administration’s dedication to making Edo State a center for quality education. Governor Obaseki stated that education is a top priority, not limited to basic and secondary schools, but including tertiary institutions.

The aim is to eliminate the brain drain crisis that currently hampers the nation. He assured that a comprehensive approach would be adopted to rectify the issues and reclaim the state’s educational prestige from the past.

During the visit, Igieneh highlighted the challenges encountered by the students, including the loss of accreditation for various courses due to inadequate support infrastructure. The school lacks functional laboratories for practicals and experiments, the school hall is severely deteriorated, and classrooms are in a state of disrepair.

Igieneh appealed to the Governor to review the institution’s financial situation, suggesting that the generated funds be utilized for development. Additionally, he requested government assistance in reopening the sale of admission forms into different departments to attract prospective students.
