Edo Education Week Kicks off with Book and Arts Festival

The Edo State Government through the Ministry of Education proudly presents the inaugural Education Week. From the 26th to the 30th of April, 2023, this week-long extravaganza is sure to captivate and enlighten all education sector stakeholders. Here’s a sneak peek of the exciting activities awaiting you during this remarkable event at Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub.

To kick-start the festivities, there will be grand opening of the first-ever Edo International Book and Arts Festival to be enthralled by knowledgeable speakers and experts covering diverse topics such as the fascinating EdoBEST Memory and showcasing academic talents through thought-provoking debates, spoken words, and quizzes.

A plenary session where esteemed education stakeholders will engage directly with Governor Godwin Obaseki and students will follow to engage in captivating technical sessions on the latest learning methodologies and  a compelling panel discussion on learning for skills.

The event will recognise and award outstanding teachers, and there will be a gala night. There will be school visitations and a parent’s summit where a panel will discuss values-based education. There will also be a sports competition – “Governor’s cup” and an EduCHEF competition.

Also, the sex offender register will be launched, and the Parents’ Council will be introduced. Additionally, there will be an introduction of the Parents’ Council, an influential voice in shaping the future of education in Edo State.

Finally, the interdenominational Thanksgiving service, culminating in a joyful celebration of the remarkable success achieved in education reforms over the past six years in Edo State.
