The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, has acknowledged a proposal from the “Owan Conscience” group to establish a University of Science and Technology in Owan. The proposal, which aligns with the Speaker’s vision, has been praised for its diligent work and commitment to championing the project.

Representing the Speaker, Chief of Staff Sir (Hon) ODK Iruobe expressed gratitude to the Actualization Committee for their efforts, acknowledging the vital groundwork laid towards making the university a reality. The Speaker has assured relentless efforts towards the project’s realization.[irp]

The proposed university will operate under a unique public-private partnership model, with the government contributing 20% of the funding and private partners contributing 80%. This innovative approach aims to produce graduates who are equipped to become employers rather than job seekers.
