Not In Our Character, Akoko Edo Forum Lashes Out At Attackers Of Law Enforcement Agencies

Akoko- Edo Development Association (aka Akoko Edo Forum) has condemned in strong terms the recent attacks on Policemen by renegade youths in Ojirami, Ojah and Ikpeshi communities sparking outrage and shockwaves amongst the people of Akoko-Edo local government area

The first attack was reported in Ojirami before a subsequent violent encounter at Ojah , where enraged youths launched  attack on a team of policemen and soldiers dispatched to maintain peace amid internal discord in the community. One police officer lost his life in the attack.

As authorities grappled with the aftermath of this act, another disturbing incident unfolded just days later in Ikpeshi where youths set ablaze a police patrol vehicle and savagely lynched two police officers following a road accident that claimed the lives of a child and an Okada rider.

In a Press statement signed on behalf of the Association by its Secretary Barr. (Mrs) Mary Opi, the Akoko-Edo Development Association vehemently condemned these unwarranted attacks, denouncing them as unprecedented and abhorrent in the annals of Akoko-Edo’s history.

“We strongly condemn these attacks and any form of assault on the police or any of our security personnel.’’ Akoko-Edo has no place for such lawlessness, and those responsible must face the full force of justice, the statement added

The association extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers, acknowledging the immense sacrifice made by those who serve on the frontlines to protect the community. It called upon government authorities to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the consequences of their actions.

The Akoko Edo forum, appealed to local leaders, including traditional rulers and religious figures, to intervene and call their subjects to order. It emphasized the importance of respecting and cooperating with law enforcement agencies, whose dedication to maintaining peace is vital in the face of adversity.
