All is now set for a rousing reception for the newly sworn-in Deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Marvelous Omobayo Godwins. The significant occasion marks a historic milestone for the people of Akoko-Edo, as Omobayo is the first indigene to ascend to such a prestigious political position in the local government council easily identified as the oldest in Nigeria.
The gathering, which also symbolizes unity and support for the son of Akoko Edo, is spearheaded by the Akoko-Edo Development Association (Akoko-Edo Forum) a non-political organization, in collaboration with the Akoko-Edo Local Government Council and the Akoko-Edo Traditional Council. The event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Igarra public field.
The inauguration of Omobayo as Deputy Governor took place on April 8, 2024, with the State’s Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Daniel Okungbowa, administering the oath of office.
Omobayo brings to his new role a wealth of experience and expertise, particularly in the oil and gas sector. As a registered member of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, he is well-versed in the intricacies of his field.
